Position Overview
Reporting to the Project Quality Manager, the Quality Control Supervisor – Balance of Plant (BOP) will be responsible for the supervision and oversite quality control inspection staff of the in the Balance of Plant segment. The QC Supervisor – BOP will work with other Kiewit sectors and Alliance partners to monitor the construction systems and processes that will achieve outstanding nuclear safety metrics and cost-effective quality operational results in support of the DNNP.
This position is a contract role with a duration of 8 months.

Location
The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Quality Control requirements applicable to the Balance of Plant segment are effectively controlled and executed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of project specific quality control procedures and work instructions to support construction activities.
- Supervise and support the Quality Control Team assigned to the Balance of Plant segment.
- Interface with the engineering, procurement, and construction groups on matters related to the planning of QC activities required by the design and applicable codes and standards including preparation of Inspection and Test Plans, Construction Work Packages, and NCR management.
- Responsible for implementing and overseeing quality control procedures on-site to ensure construction meets all specifications and standards. This includes conducting inspections, supervising QC staff, managing materials, documenting findings, and acting as a liaison to address quality issues with project managers and clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance project quality-related documentation, including inspection checklists, test protocols, work instructions, and project-specific procedures.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement by identifying new practices that will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the project.
- Timely inspections are being performed based on construction schedule.
- Maintain liaison with Alliance Partners on matters related to the execution quality control requirements of the Balance of Plant segment.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the BOP Team.
- Support internal audits and customer oversight activities.
- Assist the project construction team with the understanding of codes and standards and regulatory requirements required by the design.
- Accountable for review and approval of Lifetime Records (LTRs).
- Any other requirements as outlined in Kiewit's Quality Manuals.
Qualifications

Post Secondary Education in a related field.

Minimum 7 years’ experience in a related field with 5 years supervisory experience.

Experience in the Civil heavy construction industry

A good understanding of the following codes and standards:

- CSA A23.1/A23.2/A23.4
- ACI
- ASTM
- OPSS
- ISO 9001:2015

Continuous improvement and the use of process improvement methodologies

Understands design and construction requirements.

Strong coordination and organization skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and diligence.

Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, Alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.

CWB Weld Inspector – Level II (CWB W178.2) certification would be asset.
-
AWS Weld Inspector certifications would be asset.

- Regular, reliable attendance
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
- May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
Base Compensation: $95,000/yr - $100,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
