The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is currently seeking a part-time temporary (6 months), Nutritional Services Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager of Nutritional Services, the successful incumbent will need to be flexible and must be able to work various shifts, including weekends. As a member of our team, you will participate in the recruitment process of new frontline staff, provide departmental orientation and training, as well as evaluate and support the development of frontline staff. You will be involved in the improvement and ongoing review of a 3-week menu cycle. You will be responsible for inventory control, auditing and overseeing the preparation and distribution of client meals. You will provide input in budget preparation and help ensure staffing levels are appropriate to meet departmental needs. You will be responsible for ensuring that standards of food preparation and service are met by monitoring portion control, food temperature, food quality, correct storage and handling procedures, all in accordance with Public Health Standards and departmental policies and procedures. You will conduct training for frontline staff on Outbreak Management Infection Control procedures and protocols. You will assist with the procurement of food, small wares and safety equipment from various suppliers. You will conduct monthly reconciliation of cost transfers, Visa purchases and follow record keeping procedures. You will be a primary lead in communicating with chemical suppliers and for arranging equipment repairs. This position is expected to liaise with various internal and external stakeholders as required and will support identifying strategic opportunities related to Food Services Quality Improvement. This position is at the Queen Street Site, however you may be required to provide supervisory coverage at the College Street site, may be required to work on statutory holidays and weekends.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have completed a Food & Nutrition Management Program program or a bachelor's degree in Dietetics and will be a current Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management with 5 years’ experience in Nutrition and Food services in a health care setting. Experience working in Mental Health and Addictions supervising staff in a unionized environment is preferred. Previous work experience as a Cook with Red Seal Certification will be considered an asset. Completion of Safe Food Handlers training Certificate is required and must be current. Experience with Computrition, I-Care, and Sysco Source are considered an asset. Knowledge of health-pro contacts will be considered an asset. Experience with strategic planning, developing goals and proven ability to meet tight deadlines is required. The Nutritional Supervisor will have strong customer service, coaching and teambuilding skills, as well as strong leadership and proven ability to make decisions quickly and deal professionally with patients and staff. Proven ability to cultivate both internal and external relationships, effectively communicate work instructions and expectations to frontline staff (both written and verbal), and monitor quality of work is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment are essential to this role. You will have the demonstrated ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision. Project management knowledge and experience, along with advanced proficiency with technology are needed in this position. A solid understanding of LEAN or Continuous Improvement methodology would be an asset. Ability to work with diverse patients and staff is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
