About You / What We Are Looking For

We are currently looking for a seasoned professional who is passionate about water conservation to join our Environment Division as a regular full-time Water Conservation Program Coordinator.

In this exciting role, you will contribute to the City’s Enhanced Water Conservation Strategy by planning and implementing initiatives to promote water conservation by residents and businesses. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of education and outreach programs such as events, seminars, communications campaigns and workshops for diverse target audiences. You will also take the lead on enforcing several of the City’s environmental bylaws, including conducting investigations and supervising seasonal bylaw officers. This position is a 35 hour per week position and generally works Monday to Friday, however some scheduling flexibility will be required to work weekends or evenings on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications

Our preferred candidate will have a diploma, or preferably a degree, from a post-secondary institution in environmental science or related field of study, plus some experience related to the work and experience in investigational and enforcement work OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is also a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience planning and implementing educational and engagement initiatives, including outreach programs, school programs, and pilot projects preferably in a municipal setting and focused on water conservation or environment/sustainability focused content.
  • One of the following Professional Designations or equivalent is desirable: Certification from the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board as an Environmental Professional (EP), Certification from the College of Applied Biology as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio), Certification from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineering Licensee (Eng. L.) with an environmental-related industry or scope

What We Offer:

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $42.16 - $49.76. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.

Additionally, there is an opportunity to participate in an earned day off program. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, hybrid work options available.
