As a detail-oriented and collaborative Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will support Suncor's operations and business leaders at our Base Plant site. This role is responsible for offering strong HR guidance on various issues, ensuring alignment with company policies, and fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders to enhance the overall business environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- University degree or diploma and minimum of 5 years HR generalist experience; CPHR designation preferred
- Experience managing complex human resources issues within a unionized environment, including the resolution of legal and employment standards complaints, administration of grievances, and conducting comprehensive investigations from initiation through to final recommendations
- Experienced in delivering core HR services and leading key cycles such as compensation, succession planning, and workforce planning
- Ability to identify service improvement opportunities and innovative methodologies, providing strategic and actionable recommendations to clients and HR stakeholders
- Strong internal consulting capability with excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to build relationships quickly while working independently
- Proficient in conflict resolution through strong listening and mediation skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver core HR support in retention, engagement, succession planning, performance management, and policy guidance
- Improve HR operations through policy optimization, program enhancements, and development of training solutions in leadership, performance, and career growth
- Lead HR projects and cross-functional initiatives while monitoring industry trends to maintain competitiveness
- Assess risks and recommend solutions aligned with business needs
- Apply expertise and relationships to deliver effective HR services
- Support organizational design and effectiveness for client groups
- Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring alignment on complex assignments with HR peers and business leaders
- Make independent decisions in planning, organizing, and completing challenging assignments
Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
- If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory; relocation support will be provided
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
