Position: French Immersion 6-12 Science and Math Mentor (Part-time 0.30) Reports to: Coordinator of French Second Language Programs Employee group: NSTU Qualifications:
Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification Masters Degree in Science or Mathematics Excellent French Language proficiency (Superior OPI level or equivalent) Knowledge and strategies related to effective French Immersion best instructional practice and program development Minimum five (5) years of recent, successful immersion classroom teaching experience science and math instruction Deep knowledge of French Immersion Math and Science 6-12 curriculum

Demonstrated ability to successfully integrate science, mathematics and technology support in French Immersion contexts Experience implementing effective mathematics and science achievement strategies Polished presentation skills Well-developed, positive interpersonal skills Strong curriculum background knowledge and expertise Successful French Immersion teaching experience at the 4 to 12 levels Demonstrated classroom effectiveness Exemplary classroom management and organization Knowledge of and use of professional resources Exemplary ability to plan, organize and implement for instruction Deep knowledge and use of assessment as and for learning strategies Knowledge of the NS Standards of Teaching Knowledge of the NS Inclusive Education Policy Knowledge of NS Assessment Policy
Task Dimensions: Supports French Immersion initiatives for the Region. For example:
Supporting the delivery of the French Immersion Science and Math curriculum at 6-12 levels to ensure that all outcomes are being taught Coaching French Immersion teachers grades 6-12 in delivering curriculum and assessment to improve instructional practice for further impact on student learning Working with new classroom teachers and teachers new to the grade 6-12 in the areas of science and math, focused on FSL strategies, classroom management, instructional and assessment practices, culturally responsive teaching and technology integration Work with teachers through co-planning, co-teaching and guiding lessons to improve their skills in developing lessons using various assessment techniques Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
