About the role

The Accounts Payable Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the County’s financial operations by ensuring accounts payable activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with corporate policies and financial controls. This position is responsible for managing invoice processing, coordinating payments, and resolving discrepancies while maintaining the integrity of financial information. This position operates as part of the Treasury Services team and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the County’s financial operations.

Working closely with vendors, business partners, and finance colleagues, the Accounts Payable Coordinator supports the timely and professional payment of the organization’s financial obligations. A significant component of this role is providing administrative and operational support for the County’s Purchasing Card (PCard) program, contributing to effective oversight, compliance, and continuous improvement of payment processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and coordinate all accounts payable activities, ensuring invoices and payments are accurate, complete, and compliant with corporate policies and established financial controls
  • Review and verify invoices, investigate discrepancies, and work with vendors and business partners to resolve payment issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate financial records to support the integrity of the organization’s financial reporting
  • Support cash flow management by ensuring payments are processed professionally and within required timelines
  • Provide ongoing administrative and operational support for the Purchasing Card (PCard) program, including card distribution, compliance monitoring, and reporting
  • Deliver guidance and training related to PCard usage and compliance with internal controls
  • Compile and prepare accounts payable and PCard reports for review by finance leadership
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounts payable processes and controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within Treasury Services
  • Collaborate with finance team members and business partners to ensure consistent application of financial policies and procedures Work closely with vendors, business partners, and finance staff to ensure accurate payment processing and effective issue resolution

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post‑secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience in accounts payable or financial transaction processing within a complex organization
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, policies, and compliance requirements related to accounts payable
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with business partners and vendors Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and uphold the integrity of financial information

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. This role may be eligible to participate in our hybrid work program.
