HOURS OF WORK: 1.0 FTE; DAY SHIFTS AND WEEKEND DAY SHIFTS

WAGE RANGE: $32.59 TO $37.26 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Working to promote excellence, quality patient/client care and high professional standards, the ECG Technician will perform electrocardiograms, holter monitor applications and cardiac stress testing through the therapeutic application of skills, knowledge and abilities. The objective of the ECG Technician is to provide safe and competent care through the application of practical knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Current or pending registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists

o Graduate of a recognized Cardiology Technology program

o Three years related clinical experience working as an ECG Technician in the past five years in a similar hospital environment

o Current CPR

o Demonstrated ability to perform electrocardiograms on patients of all ages (adult, paediatric and infant)

o Demonstrated ability to perform cardiac stress tests and nuclear cardiology stress tests

o Demonstrated proficiency in holter monitor application and scanning of studies

o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting professional practice standards as outlined by the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist and related professional associations

o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service

o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving

o Working knowledge of computers

o Consistent and regular attendance required
