The Reality of This Role
Logistics Alliance is a Mississauga-based 4PL provider moving freight for some of Canada's leading retailers and manufacturers across road and rail networks, with the details taken seriously. We're looking for aManager, Operations Deliveryto lead the appointment oversight and network monitoring function that keeps our customer commitments on track, around the clock.
This is not a transactional scheduling role. It's a network oversight function - one that requires you to stay ahead of ETA shifts, identify at-risk shipments before they become service failures, and drive coordinated action across a complex, multi-party operating environment. If you lead with ownership, thrive under operational pressure, and take pride in freight that moves cleanly - read on.
What Your Day Actually Looks Like
-**Morning:**You're reviewing overnight network activity, checking ETA updates across rail and road, and identifying any shipments that need immediate intervention before the day's appointments are at risk. -**Mid-Morning:**You're working through the exception queue with your team — triaging no-show exposure, triggering rebookings, and making sure at-risk freight has a clear action owner before the window closes. -**Afternoon:**You're coordinating with carrier partners and cross-functional teams on escalations, checking appointment compliance across delegated booking parties, and making sure the right stakeholders have the right information. -**Late Afternoon:**You're reviewing what's outstanding, closing out exceptions that need resolution before end of day, and setting your team up with clear priorities for evening and overnight coverage.
You'll Thrive Here If…

You're constantly scanning for what's coming — ETA shifts, rail delays, carrier patterns — and positioning your team to act before a problem lands. -**You're a fixer:**When something's off, you don't flag it and move on. You own the follow-through until there's a clear resolution and someone accountable on the other end. -**You communicate proactively:**Your team, your carriers, and your internal stakeholders always know where things stand. Information doesn't get stuck with you. -**You're resilient:**Freight goes sideways. You know that consistency is what builds a reliable operation.
What You Should Know
This role carries real accountability. You're not just overseeing a scheduling function — you're responsible for whether customer delivery commitments are met across a live, 24/7 network. - Identifying likely no-shows, late arrivals, and failed connections early enough to support meaningful corrective action
Appointment Oversight & Trigger Management
- Ensuring booking and rebooking processes are triggered at the right time based on current network conditions — not in response to a failure that's already in progress
- Overseeing the prioritization of initial bookings, reschedules, and urgent amendments as shipment status evolves
- Keeping appointments updated accurately and promptly when transit conditions change
- Supporting the development of trigger-based workflows that reduce dependence on manual follow-up
Appointment Governance & Service Standards
- Establishing and maintaining service standards for appointment booking, rebooking, follow-up, and exception communication across all parties
- Ensuring internal teams and approved LTL carrier partners are meeting required standards for timeliness, accuracy, and follow-through
- Monitoring compliance patterns and identifying where appointments are consistently not being booked or updated within required timelines
- Working with Carrier Performance to escalate where carriers are creating service risk through late or poor-quality appointment execution
- Defining clear accountability rules for when booking is owned internally versus delegated to carrier partners or other operating teams
Exception Management
- Identifying and escalating delivery risks, missed milestones, late freight, and no-show exposure before they become customer-facing failures
- Coordinating response plans for shipments that will miss their appointment, require rebooking, or need proactive customer communication
- Driving disciplined follow-up on unresolved exceptions until a clear outcome is reached — issues don't sit, they get resolved
Communication & Operational Coordination
- Communicating clearly and promptly with internal teams on shipments requiring appointment activity, rebooking, or service recovery action
- Ensuring customers and internal stakeholders receive timely, accurate updates when appointment commitments are at risk
- Coordinating across operations, rail, road, customer service, and carrier partners to keep execution aligned with the latest shipment reality
- Helping define what communication should occur, when it should occur, and who owns it across different exception scenarios
Cross-Functional & 24/7 Operating Alignment
- Working closely with teams that hold delegated booking or monitoring responsibilities during off-hours or as part of broader workflow coverage
- Ensuring those teams are clear on expectations, escalation triggers, and service standards for appointment-sensitive freight
- Identifying gaps in handoffs, after-hours coverage, and follow-up discipline that could create no-show risk or appointment failures
- Providing ongoing oversight and feedback to keep all participating teams performing consistently across a 24/7 operating model
Team Leadership
- Leading and developing the team responsible for appointment execution and monitoring
- Shifting the team's focus from transactional booking activity toward proactive network awareness and exception response
- Setting daily operating discipline, service expectations, and clear priorities
- Coaching team members on critical thinking, urgency assessment, and understanding the downstream impact of their work
Process Improvement & Automation
- Designing and improving workflows that reduce manual appointment-related work and create more reliable execution
- Supporting the implementation of tools, dashboards, and alerts that improve visibility and exception handling
- Identifying recurring failure points across appointment planning, ETA management, carrier updates, and communication flow
- Using data and trend analysis to drive continuous improvement in service reliability, no-show reduction, and appointment accuracy
What We're Looking For
-
5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, 3PL, 4PL, rail, or LTL operations — with direct exposure to shipment execution, delivery coordination, or appointment management
-
Demonstrated experience leading operational teams in environments where timing, follow-through, and service reliability are non-negotiable
-
Strong working knowledge of freight movement across road and rail, including ETA management, milestone tracking, consignee requirements, and carrier compliance
-
Proven ability to manage exceptions at scale and hold both internal teams and external partners accountable to service standards
-
Comfortable navigating multiple TMS platforms, visibility tools, and carrier portals simultaneously
Why Logistics Alliance
