Opportunity
MacEwan University is seeking Print Services Operators for 2 casual opportunities with our Print Services department. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality digital print, reprographics, and bindery services that meet or exceed customer expectations. Your role is to ensure all printing jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining cost-effective production standards. You will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and play a key role in workflow coordination, equipment operation, and customer support for print production services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating digital printing, copying, scanning, and bindery equipment to produce finished print materials according to customer specifications;
- Ensuring all print jobs are completed with high levels of accuracy, quality, and timeliness;
- Prioritizing and managing assigned workflow in collaboration with team members to meet production deadlines;
- Performing routine equipment checks, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting including restarting equipment, clearing minor jams, and resolving basic operational issues;
- Reviewing completed jobs and conducting test prints to make necessary adjustments to ensure proper formatting, alignment, and color accuracy;
- Scanning, formatting, and preparing hardcopy originals for digital printing, archiving, and customer retention;
- Performing file setup tasks including variable data preparation, sequential numbering, page imposition, resizing, and basic image editing or manipulation;
- Reviewing and adjusting digital files including PDFs, to ensure compatibility with production equipment and output requirements.
- Assisting customers in understanding digital print production processes, capabilities, and output options and recommending cost-effective and efficient solutions based on their needs;
- Supporting customers in preparing electronic files and hardcopy originals for scanning, digital transfer, and print production; and
- Communicating required file corrections clearly and professionally, providing proofs or samples when necessary to support revisions.
Skills
You will have:
- Proficiency in operating digital print and finishing equipment;
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including file management and print production software;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality control;
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Effective communication skills for customer interaction and technical explanation;
- Basic troubleshooting skills for equipment and file-related issues; and
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
Qualifications
- A minimum of high school diploma.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a print production, reprographics, or related production environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
