Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Women's and Children's Health Program, the Clinical Manager, Paediatric Inpatient and Paediatric Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Clinics is responsible for the operational leadership of Paediatric inpatient and Hematology/Oncology Outpatient services. Working in close partnership with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and inter-professional team members, as well as community and regional partners, this leader will build and sustain excellence across the Women's and Children's Health Program.

This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of paediatric care at Trillium Health Partners. As THP prepares to open the SHAH Family Hospital for Women's and Children's Health , this leader will be instrumental in building the programs, teams, and culture that will define this landmark facility, bringing to life a new standard of care for women, children, and families across our region.

Leadership Responsibilities

Operations

  • Responsible for the effective management of quality, operations, and practice across Paediatric Inpatient and Paediatric Hematology/Oncology Outpatient services within the framework of the THP Strategic Plan and Program priorities
  • Works with patients and families as partners in care; collaborates to continuously and proactively improve the patient experience
  • Responds quickly and effectively to quality and risk issues and leads teams in improvement initiatives
  • Reviews Program performance regularly, uses data to drive decision-making and improvement strategies, and leads teams to drive best practices to improve patient outcomes
  • Prepare proposals, briefing notes, and business cases to support strategic work
  • Actively supports the development and sustainability of the Women’s and Children’s Health Program through participation in work internal and external to THP

Finance

  • Develops and manages cost centre budgets in accordance with Broader Public Sector Guidelines, accountable for an annual balanced budget
  • Apply strong business management skills including strategic planning, resource allocation, and analytics to support program sustainability and growth

Human Resources

  • Manage all aspects of employee relations including: staff development and retention; attendance and performance management
  • Collaborate with Human Resources partners to develop and implement a responsive workforce plan
  • Collaborates with team members to create an effective engagement strategy

Leading

  • Plays a pivotal role in role modeling, structuring and supporting communication among members of the inter-professional team, including community partners and stakeholders
  • Provides leadership to team in setting priorities for practice and quality improvement
  • Coaches and mentors health care professionals to navigate successfully through change Supports strategic research, innovation, and education mandate at the corporate and program level

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (or related) required; Master’s Degree in a health-related field (or evidence of working towards) preferred
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or respective college
  • Three years of formal or informal leadership experience, and at least 5 years of relevant healthcare experience
  • Minimum five years clinical experience with inpatient children’s health
  • Strong business management skills (strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and analytics)
  • Strong skill in project management; negotiation and conflict management; critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, practice standards and best practice guidelines
  • Ability to function effectively and lead during periods of rapid change and transition
  • Ability to translate strategy to a variety of stakeholders
  • Skill in motivating others to understand new approaches in the delivery of health care services
  • Experience in leading large scale change initiatives an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and teams
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent performance and attendance required

Position Location and Travel:

Travel between all sites of Trillium Health Partners will be required.
