Privately owned and operated, KF Aerospace is an industry leading Aviation Company and the largest Commercial AMO in Canada. We operate two full service MRO facilities in Kelowna, BC and Hamilton, ON. Our facilities support Boeing 727, 737, 757, 767, Airbus 300,310,319/320/321, Bombardier Dash8, Q400, Convair 580, DC10, MD80, Embraer, Twin Otter and other aircraft. We complete over 300 total aircraft projects annually for customers like Air Canada, WestJet, Canadian North, Sunwing, Air Transat, DND, and other key Canadian and US carriers. In addition to maintenance checks, we offer major modifications, cargo door installations, AC stretches and conversions. We provide fleet and customer support on location, as well as out-base coverage.
The Engineering Department is a Transport Canada Design Approval Organization that supports many internal and external modification and repair design requests by creating the appropriate data as necessary.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Project Engineer - Avionics position is an intermediate level position reporting to the Avionics Engineering Supervisor. Qualified individuals will work within the avionics engineering team, the projects engineering team and broader company teams, supporting and leading aircraft modification projects. In this position, the successful individual will lead small interdisciplinary teams to the successful (Safe/Airworthy, on-time, & on-budget) completion of avionics or electrical focused modifications while working under the general guidance of senior engineers.
Individuals that demonstrate their capabilities & skills on projects of low to moderate complexity will be given the opportunity to be challenged by leading larger, more complex projects.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Manage engineering project resources, timelines and budgets including but not limited to:
- Creating & Maintaining Project Plans
- Creating & Updating Project Schedules
- Developing Cost Estimates
- Manage Technical and Project Risks
- Liaison with project stakeholders (vendors, sub-contractors, customers, regulators etc.) with minimal oversight
- Prepare avionics and electrical design deliverables including but not limited to:
- Engineering Orders
- Wiring Diagrams
- Harness & Lead Assemblies
- Routing Drawings
- Functional Test Procedures
- Prepare airworthiness substantiation deliverables including but not limited to:
- Certification Plans
- Compliance Reports
- Issue Papers & Certification Memos
- Electrical Load Analysis
- Equipment Qualification Reports
- HIRF & Lightning Analysis
- Flight Manuals
- Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
- Qualitative & Quantitative Safety Assessments
- Certification Test Procedures and Reports
- Provide prototype support (including troubleshooting and snag resolution)
- Coordinate the successful execution of aircraft test programs (functional, EMC & flight)
- Review basic designs, reports and analysis
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a speciality in Avionics
- 4+ years of relevant aerospace experience
- Knowledge of aircraft modification design, analysis and certification techniques
- Knowledge of aircraft avionics and electrical systems
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to work extra hours when required
- Able to work independently in an office environment
- Able to independently solve problems
- Able to work collaboratively to drive resolution of complex technical projects
- Experience with MS Office necessary
- MS Project experience considered an asset
- AutoCAD experience considered an asset
- Project management training and/or PMP designation considered an asset

SALARY
The salary range for this role is $84,067.72 to $105,084.64 annually for those candidates. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
