About the role
Job Description:
On behalf of our Healthcare Client, Affinity Healthcare Solutions is looking for a Business Analyst to support the collection, evaluation, and translation of complex business needs into actionable technical specifications. The resource will work closely with solution architects, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are accurately captured, validated, and aligned with operational and technical constraints. The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing delivery risk by ensuring that requirements, processes, and solution expectations are well defined and understood across both business and technical streams.
Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Lead requirements gathering, solicitation, refinement, and documentation.
- Capture, analyze, and evaluate business processes, workflows, and use cases.
- Translate business needs into clear technical specifications consumable by solution, architecture, and development teams.
- Assess new service and technology requests and their impact on the operational environment, providing recommendations as required.
- Assist with developing project plans, schedules, estimates, task lists, and resource assignments related to architectural deployments and service delivery.
Technical Evaluation & Solution Support
Research and evaluate emerging technology trends relevant to assigned initiatives.
- Evaluate existing services and recommend remediation or modernization opportunities.
- Support proof-of-concept work and limited production rollouts with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Contribute to the design of new IT services, solution papers, and test plans.
- Assist in determining hardware/software requirements to support project objectives.
- Document technical recommendations and provide guidance to management, operations, and project team members.
Quality, Change Management & Governance
- Provide quality control oversight on production implementations.
- Ensure compliance with approved change management processes.
- Communicate operational guidelines and policies to clients and interpret how those guidelines support business operations.
- Identify and raise issues, risks, or impediments, offering recommendations to mitigate impacts.
- Provide tracking and reporting of time, deliverables, and status as required.
Qualifications:
Must Have – Work Experience
- 6 years of demonstrated experience identifying and documenting business requirements, interpreting business needs, and proposing improvements to increase effectiveness.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience planning and conducting requirements gathering workshops with operational and clinical staff, leadership teams, or stakeholder representatives.
- 5 years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of complex multi-vendor IT solutions.
Nice to Have – Work Experience
- 1 year with a degree/diploma in business or IT, or Certified Business Analysis Professional (IIBA).
- 4 years contributing to systems analysis, design, or implementation of provincial EHR systems (e.g., Alberta Netcare) or EMR systems used in community physician offices.
- 4 years documenting requirements as part of a Request for Proposal procurement process.
- 4 years developing business cases, conducting feasibility studies, and performing alternative analysis.
- 2 years working with information management concepts, privacy, and security issues relating to FOIP.
- 4 years documenting workflows and use cases.
- 4 years in a facilitation role.
- 4 years developing new IT services, including service definitions, measurements, cost models, processes, implementation, and operational handover.
