Shift Supervisor - Calgary Courts Centre
The Shift Supervisor will organize and oversee all security operations during his shift. Security Officers will report to the Shift Supervisor and will be under the Supervisors command while implementing policies and procedures and maintaining security standards. As a Shift Supervisor, you will have to demonstrate excellent communication skills, strongly commit to the policies and procedures of the site and look out for all hazards and threats to safety. The Shift Supervisor will have a number of guards under their responsibility and must exhibit leadership skills as well as properly documenting and forwarding concerns and corrective actions to the Site Manager. The Shift Supervisor's goal is to create and preserve an environment where employees, visitors and property are safe and well-protected.
This position is an overnight position - 2330 - 0800
Job Role and responsibilities:

Coordinate the work responsibilities for Paladin Security guards.

Provides operational support to security guards.
-
Train new security staff, ensuring proper documentation is completed, and provide on-going guidance.
-
Ensure security guards are compliant with OHS requirements
-
Complete workplace injury, near miss reports and WCB paperwork and submit in accordance with Paladin policy and legislation.
-
Work alongside Site Manager to conduct and support progressive discipline and workplace coaching
-
Conduct performance evaluations
-
Ensure incident reports are written as required, using the appropriate forms prior approval to the appropriate parties; may prepare other written reports as directed.
-
Act as on scene incident commander until or unless the incident calls for escalation up the chain of command per SOPs
-
Anticipate staffing trends and suggest training and/or recruitment where necessary
-
Ensure phone lines in SCC are answered 24/7 without fail
-
Investigate all system generated alarms without fail
-
Liaise with the Sheriff's department
-
Monitor and control all public and secured spaces, including the perimeter of CCC, Court of Appeals, Harley Hotchkiss Gardens as well as all parking areas, entrances and exits.

Complete and maintain records for daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, audits and inspections
-
Suggest and implement risk mitigation strategies focused on asset protection
-
In the absence of management, assume the role of managing security activities.
-
Be reachable while on shift 100% of the time and accessible to the client and/or Paladin management for any request.

Job Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to make immediate decisions, while maintaining composure in emergency response situations with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in operating camera systems is an asset
- Excellent asset tracking and upkeep
- Able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Leadership and coaching tactics and experience
- Microsoft suite knowledge is an asset
- Knowledge of the charter of rights and freedoms, fire alarm systems, access control systems, intervention equipment, legal powers, criminal code of Canada, etc. is an asset
- Political environment experience is an asset
- Authorized to legally work in Canada
