Principal of Bluffton School
Effective August 26, 2026
Bluffton School has a school staff of approximately eight teachers and seven support staff. It serves approximately 133 students by providing a learning environment that uses innovative, collaborative educational practices for Kindergarten through Grade 9.
The principal selection committee is seeking an innovative and visionary leader with an excellent background as a classroom teacher and administrator in Kindergarten to Grade 9 environments.
The ideal candidate will possess exemplary interpersonal skills and a commitment to building and promoting a collaborative environment. The new principal of Bluffton School will be expected to continue to build on a proud tradition where the school actively partners with its community to develop the best educational experience possible for students.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in the following areas:
- Evidence of exemplary interpersonal skills
- Evidence of a commitment towards building and promoting collaborative environments.
- Evidence of establishing structures and supports focused on concurrent academic and social/emotional interventions
- Evidence of leadership experience with diverse students.
- Evidence of experience working with First Nations, Métis & Inuit families and communities.
- Evidence of strong foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis & Inuit for the benefit of all students.
- Evidence of enrollment in a Master’s Degree Program with a firm completion timeline of no longer than 24 months, or evidence of completion of a Master's Degree Program.
- Evidence of a thorough understanding and application of current educational research.
- Evidence of high expectations for student achievement, literacy assessment, and effective literacy programming and interventions.
- Evidence of an ability to work collaboratively with an active school council, and parent community
- Evidence of a commitment to leading and supporting professional development and school improvement initiatives aligned with jurisdictional and provincial directions.
- Evidence of having a strong understanding of literacy progression and development in the early years, Kindergarten to Grade 9
- Evidence of a strong understanding of rural school environments and the particular importance the school in a small town
- Evidence of a thorough understanding of how technology can facilitate learning.
- Evidence of LQS Certification (Completion or Pathways to Certification workshop, or evidence of credentials)
- Evidence of successful experience as an assistant principal or principal.
