Job Description
As our Firmware Team Manager, you will lead a team of firmware and embedded software developers in the implementation of the Edge and Cloud based systems and OS platforms for everything that Vention has to offer. This enables communications between the Vention ecosystem and our thousands of machine parts interactions on factory floors.
To be successful, you will first have to master every technical aspect of our firmware, software and automation technologies. You will have the opportunity to show ownership over our products, interacting with various stakeholders (Product Manager, the development team and the production team), guiding technical decisions, organizing your team’s work, and finally bringing your projects to completion!
More specifically, you will:
- Have 5 amazing team members that will report directly to you. You will help them grow their careers on a technical and interpersonal level
- Work every day with technologies like C++, Python, Realtime Linux, Docker, Arm Linux Computers, hands on and Robot
- Guide our technical decisions. Architect our code stack for various deployment environments on Edge, as well as making sure that our software is performant in both environments
- Participate in the testing and quality of our physical solutions, manufacturing hardware
- Interact with several robot arm manufacturers and motors suppliers (Fanuc, UR, Doosan, etc.).
- Organize your team’s work: quarterly plannings, sprint plannings, estimations and tracking, reviews. Make sure things run smoothly.
- Own a core piece of our product line
Qualifications
- Programming languages: C++, Python and Bash.
- Strong leadership skills, to show ownership over full, end-to-end solutions
- Love of new challenges and ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Understanding of TCP/IP, REST, gRPC, WebSockets and MQTT
- Understanding of distributed system design and the related technical challenges
- Knowledge of ROS, robot programming and motion planning is an asset, but not required
- Optional: Experience with at least one proprietary robot platform (URSim, ROBOGUIDE, DART, or other), and hardware deployment is an asset, but not required
