As a Lifeguard for Appleby Camps, you will be responsible for diligently monitoring activities in the pool area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment for all campers.

WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB:

  • Follow Appleby’s Camp Lifeguarding procedures
  • Communicate regularly with swimming staff to support camper needs
  • Review and practice emergency procedures during training and daily swim sessions
  • Conduct swimming ability assessments during the first pool session
  • Perform rescues and administer First Aid as needed
  • Complete daily pool safety checks and facility inspections
  • Conduct swim breaks and enforce pool and camp policies
  • Ensure the safety and health of campers and staff while at the pool area
  • Support inclusive aquatic programming

YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:

  • Hold current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification in good standing
  • Hold additional aquatic qualifications (e.g., Instructors, Pool Operator) — assets
  • Have experience completing incident/accident reports
  • Are energetic, communicative, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Have prior lifeguarding experience (required)Have lifeguarding experience in a camp or instructional setting (preferred)

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Training
    • Friday May 29, 2026 (Evening)
    • Saturday May 30 & Sunday May 31, 2026 (Full Days)
    • Saturday June 13, 2026 (Full Day)
  • Setup and Orientation
    • Sunday June 14, 2026 (Full Day)
  • Camp Session Dates: June 22 – August 28, 2026 - As Assigned
    • Monday to Friday 8:15am–4:15pm
    • Mandatory Orientation: First day of each week, 7:30am–4:30pm

WORKPLACE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening (18+) OR declaration for those under 18
  • Standard First Aid and CPR–C (valid until end of contract)
  • All aquatic certifications must remain valid for the contract period
