Join our Public Health team as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the North Zone’s dynamic Seasonal Immunization. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-impact public health initiative that supports community wellness through immunization. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of immunizations and health services to diverse populations, including infants, children under five, and their families. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate Nurses (GN’s) actively pursuing licensure are welcome to apply and will be considered based on clinical readiness and alignment with program needs.
  • Experience in administering injections or immunizations, whether through clinical placements or employment required.
  • Experience working with infants, young children, and families is highly valued.
  • Must be able to work in a loud, chaotic, busy environment.
  • Ability to walk 3-4 blocks at a time while carrying, pushing, pulling 50 lbs. of equipment, climb 4 flights of stairs while carrying 50 lbs. of equipment, carry out awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 8-hour shift, sitting, standing, reaching and/or bending for long periods of time.
  • Be able to comply with appropriate hand hygiene techniques, including regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap.
  • Candidates must demonstrate adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to public health principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience with Connect Care and other electronic health record systems is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with public health, immunization, or community outreach experience.
  • Familiarity with culturally safe care practices is also beneficial.
