The Position:

We are currently hiring two Summer Market Garden Workers. Reporting to the Greenhouse Coordinators at Subnivean Farms within Hull School.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare beds: raking, weeding, adding compost, mulching
  • Plant seeds and seedlings; water and care for plants
  • Weed, remove pests, and maintain clean garden areas
  • Harvest vegetables, herbs, and flowers
  • Wash, sort, bunch, and pack produce or flowers
  • Maintain tools, clean work areas, and organize supplies
  • Assist with composting and basic garden repairs
  • Set up materials for classes or events (school garden)
  • Help load, unload, and set up for markets or distribution
  • Follow daily instructions and complete other tasks as needed

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience with garden and landscaping preferred.
  • High personal competence in the maintenance of positive relationships with colleagues, children and youth.
  • Demonstrated interest, commitment, consistency, and a high level of personal maturity and responsibility.
  • Ability to take initiatives and work independently and also as part of a team.
  • Clear Police Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check and a Child Intervention Record Check.
  • Must be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs program funding (between 15 and 30 years of age, Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or Refugee Protection Status).

Other Working Conditions:

  • Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00
  • This position is subject to government funding approval.
  • Start Date: May 25, 2026
  • Latest Ending Date: August 28, 2026
