About the role

Description Position at Torex Gold Resources Inc. About The Role Reporting to the VP, Metallurgy & Process Engineering, the Principal, Project Metallurgist serves as the senior technical authority and subject matter expert (SME) for metallurgical and process engineering across Torex Gold’s project portfolio. This role provides technical leadership through the full project lifecycle, from early-stage studies through engineering, commissioning, and operational readiness.

The Principal, Project Metallurgist, ensures metallurgical integrity in process design, oversees metallurgical test work and consultant deliverables, and supports optimization initiatives across the Morelos Complex and future development projects. Working closely with corporate and site teams, the role ensures that metallurgical solutions are technically robust, aligned with project objectives, and ready for successful operational implementation.

What We're Looking for:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Metallurgical or Mineral Processing Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation

Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive technical, operational, engineering, and project experience, including significant exposure to study and execution phases
  • At least 5+ years in process operations or operational support roles
  • Experience in precious and base metals processing, including water systems and tailings management
  • Demonstrated experience leading metallurgical inputs into PEA, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility studies
  • Experience approving flowsheets, plant modifications, plant expansions, and optimization strategies
  • Strong experience managing and governing consultant deliverables
  • Experience supporting operational readiness, pre-commissioning, and commissioning

Skills:

  • Deep metallurgical and process engineering expertise
  • Strong governance mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and ensure technical discipline
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with corporate leaders, project development teams, and site operations
  • Confident communicator capable of presenting to executive and site leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience working in multicultural environments
  • Spanish language knowledge (written, spoken, and read) is considered an asset

Key Accountabilities

Efficient Processing of Ore

  • In collaboration with the Principal Engineer, Geometallurgy, manages metallurgy and processing-related test work for projects
  • Analyzes and reviews metallurgical parameters from Geometallurgy, and provides input and guidance around blending rates for projects

Management and Oversight of Ore Processing Design Aspect of Projects

  • Approves designs and plans related to metallurgy and processing as per the developed framework, including flowsheet development, modifications to existing facilities, and expansion to existing facilities
  • Reviews all technical documentation related to process engineering and metallurgy, and advises the Team Leader of any deviations and corrective actions
  • Monitors and coordinates all the work done by consultants and keeps Team Leader informed of any deviations
  • Acts as a resource for sites in the planning of metallurgy and processing projects; leading specific pieces of work for projects
  • Supports operational readiness, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of new processing facilities

The posted salary range represents our target pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on the comprehensive review of the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and external benchmark data for comparable roles.

Torex is an intermediate gold producer based in Canada, engaged in the exploration, development and operation of its 100% owned Morelos Gold Property, an area of 29,000 hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometers southwest of Mexico City.

The Company’s principal assets are the El Limón Guajes mining complex (the “ELG Mine Complex”) and the Media Luna deposit. The ELG Mine Complex is a 14,000 tpd gold mine which has been in production since 2016 and which comprises three open pits, an underground mine, and a CN/CIP processing plant.

The Media Luna deposit (“ML deposit”) is an advanced stage development project which is located 7 kilometers south of the ELG Complex. Current resource for the ML deposit is 51.5 Mt at a grade of 4.48 gpt Au Equivalent, Torex issued a Preliminary Economic Assessment in 2018. The property remains 75% unexplored.
