About the Role:
As a Supervisor, Operations, you’ll lead a team of Powerline Technicians and frontline employees who work hard every day to keep the power on in our communities. You’ll be responsible for organizing and supporting the day-to-day work in the field, making sure jobs are completed safely, on time, and done right. Whether it’s coordinating job plans, responding to unplanned outages, or supporting your crew’s development, your leadership will play a key role in delivering reliable service to customers across the region.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee daily operations of the electric distribution network, ensuring reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of powerline technicians and team leads, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Navigate labour relations with a sound understanding of collective agreement and effective management within a unionized work environment.
- Coordinate maintenance, construction, and emergency response activities, optimizing resource allocation and scheduling to meet operational targets and customer needs.
- Implement operational strategies and action plans to enhance efficiency, reliability, and service quality.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, customers, and regulatory bodies, representing ATCO Electric in a professional manner.
- Monitor and manage operational budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions, ensuring all operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and legislative requirements.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and operational improvements.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, coordinating resources and communication to mitigate impact and swiftly restore service.
What You Bring:

Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT), related Technology Diploma, or Post-secondary degree
-
Proven experience in utility operations, electrical engineering, or a related field, with a strong preference for experience in electric distribution.

3-5 years of experience in a leadership role, with experience managing teams in a technical or operational environment.

Knowledge of electrical utility regulations, safety standards, and best practices.

Valid Alberta driver's license and willingness to travel within the service area as needed.
