What is the opportunity?
In this role, you will lead the design, strategic planning and execution of high-impact events for Corporate Client Group (CCG). Events include webinars, senior executive town halls, conferences, RBC Performance Galas and other internal and external events as required.
This role reports to the Director, Communications, CCG, and will work closely with internal partners including the CCG Senior Leadership Team, Regional Offices, RBC Performance and Commercial Marketing teams.
The ideal candidate brings exceptional, senior project and stakeholder management skills and a passion for creating memorable, seamless and engaging event experiences.
What will you do?
Event Planning
- Lead the end-to-end design development and execution of events, including virtual, hybrid and in-person formats
- Build and maintain an event implementation plan, associated tasks and timelines, including assessing at-risk deliverables
- Lead the coordination of logistics such as venue selection, catering, AV set up, event registration and on-site staffing
- Contribute to the development of event concepts, themes and agendas in collaboration with the CCG Senior Management Team (SMT) and CCG Communications Team
- Manage and report on event budgets. This includes building and managing the budget, providing ongoing budget updates, and making recommendations throughout the planning process and post event reconciliation.
- Track and analyze event performance metrics, including attendance, engagement and post-event feedback to inform future events
- Stay informed on event trends, technologies, and best practices to introduce innovative ideas that enhance the attendee experience
Other initiatives
- Work with the SVP and National Head of Corporate Client Group on coordinating market visits across Canada
- Develop consistent approach for client briefing documents to be used by the SVP and other executives as needed
- Work with the SMT to coordinate distribution of external event tickets (e.g. concerts, sporting events)
- Working with each Regional Head, maintain a repository of client event preferences, track client attendance at events and identify other high value clients for future event opportunities
- Manage RBC Performance points allocations and work closely with the RBC Performance committees across the country. Be the main CCG contact with the RBC Performance Team
- Work closely with the regional offices across the country on planning and coordinating annual RBC Performance galas
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 5+ years of experience in event planning and management, including experience with executive-level events
- Proven success in managing large-scale events and initiatives, collaborating with team members, internal partners and external vendors
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and plan effectively
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging senior-level stakeholders
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving under tight deadlines
- Technology savvy, specifically with Webex (Meetings, Events), TemboSocial, Slido, and Cvent
- Ability to work outside of standard office hours to support events and potential for occasional travel
Nice to have:
- Event planning designations (e.g. CMP, CMM) are an asset
- Experience planning conferences and events for a financial services environment
- Commercial Banking knowledge or experience
