Position Overview
Reporting to the IT Operations Supervisor, the Junior Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for providing user help desk support, training and support for PC systems and installed applications, first-level technical support for Town of Canmore (“Town”) line of business applications, security program administration, and other acquired and/or Town developed information systems. The Junior Desktop Support Specialist must interact well with other Information Technology (IT) employees, staff throughout the Town, as well as Town clients and vendors. Additionally, this position must maintain familiarity with, comply with, and promote the Town's policies and its directives related to information systems and technology.

Core Responsibilities:
PC Support/Help Desk

Provides first-level support for IT related issues

Triages and assigns tickets to appropriate resources

Accurately diagnoses, corrects and/or escalates all problems
-
Monitors and provides status updates to users until problem is resolved
-
Manages and updates incident lifecycle in the ITSM system
User/Application Support
-
Provides first level application support to users with IT-related issues that cannot be resolved within the specific department by its users
-
Works with third-party software vendors to understand patches and suggested corrections, testing them in the test environment to determine the risks and impact prior to implementing corrections in the production environment

Possess well-rounded knowledge of application portfolio
Security Program Administration
-
Supports in delivering Security awareness training to users across the organization
-
Works with other members of IT team and users to support any questions or concerns related to security
-
Works with other members of IT team to mitigate new security risks as they arise
-
Promotes cyber hygiene practices to users across the organization
Education & Qualifications:
-
Post-secondary education in computer technologies and programs or equivalent experience – Required
-
Certification or training related to a desktop support role such as Microsoft Certified Endpoint Administrator, Comp TIA A+, IT Help Desk Professional, or Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator - preferred
Experience:
-
Minimum one year of experience in a similar support role with related post-secondary education, or minimum of three years’ experience – required

Training and/or experience with Microsoft Office applications at an advanced level – required
-
Experience with cloud-based technologies – preferred
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills – required
-
Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and support in a PC network environment – required

Work on-site in Canmore – required
Salary and Benefits:

Pay Range:$38.20 – $42.69per hour
