About the role

PVS Contractors Inc. has been a leading provider of infrastructure services, delivering essential utility locating, damage prevention and asset management services. We are currently seeking an energetic, career-minded individual for the role of Training Lead, Quality & Training.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Training, the Training Lead is responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining comprehensive training programs that promote consistency, compliance, and operational excellence across all PVS systems and locate procedures. This role plays a vital part in equipping field teams and support staff with the knowledge and skills required to perform safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

Training Program Design & Delivery

  • Facilitate comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires to ensure smooth integration and role readiness.
  • Deliver targeted training for employees transitioning between utility territories, ensuring compliance with local standards.
  • Conduct retraining sessions in response to audit findings or performance gaps.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to enhance technical proficiency and support professional development.
  • Schedule periodic refresher courses covering safety protocols, procedures, and operational updates.
  • Lead monthly toolbox meetings to share updates, address field challenges, and promote continuous improvement.

Training Material Development

  • Create and maintain training resources for new contracts, existing procedures, and all operational departments.
  • Ensure training materials are accurate, accessible, and aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain and update work procedure manuals and Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
  • Ensure version control and regulatory compliance across all documentation.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Provide expert guidance to auditors, supervisors, and locators.
  • Support field teams with technical clarifications, procedural updates, and troubleshooting.

Quality Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate damage incidents and audit findings to identify root causes.
  • Develop targeted training interventions to prevent recurrence.
  • Communicate corrective and preventative actions to internal teams and external stakeholders following non-conformances.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, communications, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered
  • Experience in utility locating, with strong knowledge of underground infrastructure and field operations
  • Background or formal training in adult education is considered an asset
  • Ability to deliver internal training, lead instructional sessions, and mentor team members effectively
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel-related responsibilities
  • Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check

Accountabilities

  • Ensure timely delivery and regular updates of training content and operational support
  • Drive training effectiveness through measurable improvements in team performance
  • Maintain a complete, accurate, and accessible library of training materials
  • Incorporate feedback from trainees and leadership into program evaluation and continuous improvement

Success Factors

  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in document control and version tracking
  • Skilled in using digital systems for record management and ensuring documentation accuracy
  • Builds collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Communicates effectively with excellent interpersonal skills

Working Relationships

This position involves frequent collaboration with all internal departments to ensure alignment across operations, training, and quality initiatives. It also requires regular interaction with customer damage prevention representatives to support safe practices, resolve inquiries, and maintain strong external partnerships.

Work Location & Travel Requirements

  • This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Hamilton Office (5 days/week)
  • The position requires regular travel to other business offices and in-field locations to support training delivery and operational needs
