ABOUT THE POSITION
We are currently looking for two (2) Program Development Officer (PDO) for a permanent full time roles.
The Program Development Officer works with subject matter experts and program instructors to develop and maintain program standards and assessment tools that meet the needs of industry and comply with SkilledTradesBC and national policies, guidelines and requirements. The Program Development Officer works collaboratively with other SkilledTradesBC departments to prepare for implementation of new standards and assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Program Development:
- Work with subject matter experts (industry and instructional) to develop and maintain program standards and assessment tools, organize, coordinate, and prepare for workshops, webinars, internal and external meetings with subject matter experts, instructors and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate consensus building among subject matter experts to develop and maintain program standards and assessment tools, work collaboratively with other SkilledTradesBC departments to prepare for implementation of new and updated program standards and assessment tools.
- Work with jurisdictional counterparts to develop national standards and assessments for trades programming.
Relationship Building:
- Develop and present findings to external and internal partners including Articulation and Program Advisory Committees, Industry groups, Associations and Senior Leadership/Management.
- Assist other departments in researching and resolving issues related to Program Standards.
- Develop strong relationships with trades industry experts and trades training instructors throughout the province.
Project Management:
- Plan and prioritize multiple projects by prioritizing tasks, coordinating the availability of multiple stakeholders/subject matter experts; establish operational milestones to meet implementation deadlines, while operating within set budgets.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary degree is required; an equivalent combination of education, training development and experience will be considered
- Trade certification is considered an asset
- Experience developing performance standards, practical assessments and exams is necessary
- Demonstrated ability to develop, organize and facilitate meetings/workshops and report on results
- 5 years’ work related industry experience and/or experience with similar stakeholder groups is required
- Experience in technical writing, occupation standards and development training, exam validation theory and methodology is an asset
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with individuals and organizations
- Skilled at verbally communicating information in a way that creates understanding, captures interest and gains support
COMPENSATION
Salary Band D:$72,898 - $98,628
SkilledTradesBC offers a highly competitive benefits package and perks which include:
