Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, SIS Implementation and Business Transformation, the Business Systems Analyst performs a wide range of duties supporting the implementation and ongoing configuration of the Student Information System (SIS).

The incumbent requires a comprehensive understanding of college-wide business processes, a sound awareness of a student information system (SIS) and an understanding of how the system integrates with applications in use throughout the organization. Applying a deep understanding of the enrolment lifecycle and related dependencies, the incumbent is required to tailor and configure the SIS to meet ever changing business needs.

The incumbent is provided business scenarios requiring a solution through the use of the SIS. The Business Systems Analyst is able to document, scope, design, communicate and implement SIS and student portal solutions by leveraging their knowledge of the business need, the SIS capabilities and applying analytical and problem solving skills. The incumbent must engage business analysis skills to understand scope of requirements and impact of configuration(s).

The incumbent develops strong working relationships with colleagues in Marketing and ITS to validate and ensure process flows are functioning as required in the student portal.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed awareness of all student information system functions at a high level of detail. Configure existing business processes within the SIS;
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of future state business processes within the Student Information System;
  • Development of test cases and lead testing of SIS and functionality;
  • Acting as a business Subject Matter Expert, the incumbent is required to share knowledge as needed across all R3 project streams;
  • Develop and deliver several different types of training sessions on SIS usage and configuration;
  • Identifies user roles and permissions within the SIS and liaises with ITS counterpart to develop role templates;
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a three (3) year diploma / degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Data Analysis, project documentation, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, Communications or related;

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a post-secondary environment;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of post-secondary student information, related systems, and student enrolment lifecycle is required;

  • Extensive experience in using a student information system;

  • Demonstrated experience with the AC Way/continuous improvement of a student information system from a business perspective;

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills;

  • Experience with business process development and enhancement;

  • Excellent organizational skills: including the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision;

  • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and creatively in planning and developing a fresh approach to existing activities;

  • Self-starter with the ability to take a leadership role in assigned projects;

  • Problem solving skills; ability to analyze and streamline complex processes.
