About the role

Who Are You? You’re an experienced sales leader who knows how to motivate, coach, and manage a high-performing team. You bring strong experience across both new business development and existing account growth. You understand how to generate opportunities, build relationships, move deals forward, and expand long-term client partnerships. You’re comfortable leading sales professionals at different stages of their careers, from people in their first year of sales to experienced veterans. You adapt your coaching to the individual, provide clear and direct feedback, and know how to challenge strong performers to keep improving. You inspire people to perform, but you also manage closely to the numbers. You use pipeline activity, forecasting, conversion metrics, and revenue results to identify gaps, reinforce accountability, and help your team succeed. You also care deeply about culture. You take the time to understand how the organization works, build strong relationships across the company, and contribute positively to the team and the broader business. Most importantly, you take ownership. When something is not working, you dig in, identify what needs to change, and lead the team toward a stronger result. What's the Role? We’re looking for a Sales Manager to lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10 sales professionals responsible for both new business development and existing account growth. You’ll be accountable for team performance, revenue targets, pipeline health, forecasting, and the continued development of our sales people and processes. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll conduct regular coaching, review pipelines and active opportunities, address performance gaps, and ensure each team member has the expectations, feedback, and support required to succeed. You’ll also work closely with leadership, marketing, operations, and other departments to improve the sales process, strengthen the customer experience, and support the organization’s broader growth goals. The right person is both strategic and practical. You can improve how the sales function operates while also stepping into the details to help the team navigate opportunities, strengthen relationships, and close business.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead, coach, manage, and develop a team of approximately 10 sales professionals. Create clear expectations for performance, activity, pipeline management, and team behaviours. Build strong relationships with team members and adapt your coaching approach based on their experience, strengths, and development needs. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, pipeline reviews, call reviews, and team coaching sessions. Provide hands-on coaching through role-play, deal strategy, objection handling, feedback, and real-world sales guidance. Support both newer sales professionals and experienced team members in continuing to improve their performance. Own team revenue targets across new business and existing client growth. Monitor individual and team performance against established KPIs, revenue targets, pipeline expectations, and activity standards. Hold team members accountable while providing the coaching, clarity, and resources required for them to succeed. Review pipeline activity and ensure opportunities are accurately managed within Salesforce. Produce reliable weekly, monthly, and quarterly revenue forecasts. Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities within the pipeline and take action before they affect results. Help the team improve opportunity qualification, follow-up, conversion, deal progression, and account growth. Identify performance concerns and create clear, practical improvement plans. Recruit, interview, onboard, and develop new members of the sales team. Strengthen sales processes, reporting, tools, and operating rhythms as the team grows. Collaborate with leadership, marketing, operations, and other departments to improve the customer journey and overall sales effectiveness. Share customer feedback, market trends, competitive insights, and sales opportunities with the broader leadership team. Actively contribute to the company culture and help create a sales environment built on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong performance.

Required Experience & Skills

You are legally able to work in Canada and are located in Calgary, Alberta. You have extensive professional sales experience, including experience across areas such as inside sales, outside sales, business development, and account management. You have at least two years of experience directly leading or managing a sales team. You have experience managing a team with different levels of sales experience and performance. You have a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding individual and team revenue targets. You are a strong coach who can provide clear, practical, and direct feedback. You know how to inspire a team while also holding people accountable to expectations and results. You are comfortable managing performance through data, KPIs, pipeline activity, conversion metrics, and revenue forecasts. You have strong experience using CRM systems, with Salesforce experience considered a strong asset. You understand how new business development and existing account growth work together. You are comfortable working closely with marketing, operations, and client-facing teams. You communicate clearly and can build trust with both sales professionals and senior leaders. You can identify the difference between a motivation issue, a skill gap, a process issue, and a performance management concern. You are organized, commercially minded, and comfortable managing competing priorities. You take ownership of both the team’s results and the systems that support those results.

About POD Marketing Inc.

Advertising Services

POD Marketing is a full-service digital marketing agency that offers clients a wide range of marketing solutions. Unlike other agencies, we specialize in 3 industries, which makes us true experts in both digital marketing and the industries we serve.

We give our clients access to a team of marketing experts, who design websites and also provide services such as social media, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, email marketing, SEO, and much more. In other words, we shine a spotlight on their practice/business!

While we love and are committed to our clients, our number 1 priority has and always will be our employees. We believe this employee-obsessed approach is the biggest contributor to our company’s growth. In only 8+ years, we’re now working with over 200 clients across North America, which would not have been possible without employing a talented team of over 100 employees.

Office culture is not about having a beer fridge or a ping-pong table (but yes, we have those too), it’s about how being at work makes you feel. We asked our staff and here are some of the things they said they loved most about working at POD Marketing: They feel accepted for who they are, supported, challenged, enjoy the flexibility of being able to work from home, the open lines of communication with every member on the team including upper management, having physiological safety, and are energized by the opportunities to grow, develop and progress their careers.

At POD, we consider alignment with our core values and passion for our company culture to be as valuable as experience and education. We are always on the lookout for ‘unicorns’, and we are hiring!
