Project Coordinator

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for transforming workspaces into functional, inspiring environments? The City of Edmonton is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our Infrastructure Planning and Design team.
In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the successful delivery of facility projects that enhance our city’s infrastructure. You will act as a key technical resource, ensuring that workspace planning projects are executed with precision, from initial scope definition to final completion. What will you do?
- Support Program and Project Managers in delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget
- Coordinate on-site meetings and visits to support project development, including feasibility studies and engagement activities
- Assist with the preparation of project documentation, budget estimates, and technical specifications for furniture and materials
- Act as a site liaison between the project team, consultants, and contractors to ensure work conforms to drawings and codes
- Monitor project risks and contractual variances, providing recommendations for mitigation strategies
- Review and process progress claims, track costs, and ensure all project documentation is finalized
- Facilitate workspace planning by conducting needs assessments and coordinating with furniture vendors and property managers
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- A University Degree in Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or Project Management with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible project experience -ORa Diploma in Interior Design, Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or Project Management with a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible project experience
Assets:
- Direct experience in workspace planning
- Knowledge of commercial furniture
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD for space planning and design
- a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent)
Skills required for success:
- Demonstrated experience working within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects
- Experience managing and working directly with external consultants and contractors
- Strong knowledge of project and process management principles, including data synthesis and trend analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to express complex ideas to a variety of collaborators
- Proven planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a focus on meeting project milestones
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, and regulations, such as OH&S and the Builders Lien Act
- Confidence in developing strong, collaborative relationships with internal business areas and external vendors

Conditions of Employment:
- This is a safety-sensitive position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton’s safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety footwear, hard hats, and eye protection during site visits
- CRC - Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
- Applicants may be tested
Work Environment:
- The role primarily operates in an indoor office environment, with occasional travel to various sites for inspections and meetings
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
