About the role
Enjoy working outdoors and take pride in helping create exceptional course conditions? As a Labourer II at Broadmoor Public Golf Course, you'll play an important role in maintaining the quality, appearance, and playability of one of the region’s premier golf destinations. Working as part of a dedicated grounds maintenance team, you'll support a variety of daily course operations, including turf care, landscaping, course setup, irrigation support, and general grounds maintenance. Whether preparing the course for tournaments, enhancing the golfer experience, or helping keep facilities clean and safe, this hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, teamwork, and being outdoors in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
This posting is for one hourly position for up to 5 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform manual tasks including use of hand power tools and equipment (shovels, rakes edgers, etc.)
- Assist with horticulture related tasks (pruning, weeding, etc.)
- Assist with irrigation tasks (hand watering, sprinkler maintenance, small irrigation repairs, etc.)
- Learn the safe operation of small equipment (string trimmers, push mowers, drills, backpack sprayers, etc.)
- Operate various types of turf equipment (greens mowers, tee mowers, bunker rakes, tractors, etc.)
- Conduct routine equipment maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Support team members in completing daily tasks efficiently and effectively
- Follow safety guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure the safety of individual, others and visitors in the workplace
Qualifications and Skills:
- Past golf course maintenance experience is considered an asset
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a positive manner with others
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain concentration and alertness for extended periods of time
- Ability to adapt to new and changing situations, combined with initiative and responsibility
- Proficiency in the use of a variety of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, MSDS and WHMIS regulations and First Aid Training
- Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement weather and adverse weather conditions
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Current First Aid and CPR certification required prior to start date
- Ability and willingness to perform various types of physical labour including moderate to heavy lifting (up to 23 kilograms), standing, bending, shoveling, etc.
- Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement and adverse weather conditions
- Ability to work full-time hours within a variety of shifts
