Role Purpose/ Summary:
The Packaging Lead Hand role involves utilizing techniques that ensure quality, efficacy, and safety, as well as adhering to all AgMedica Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Working under the management of the Packaging Team Lead, assist with supervising a team of Processing Technicians in performing all tasks in the cannabis packaging sequence; including final packaging, inventory management, document verification and distribution. Reporting to the Packaging Team Lead and following his or her directives, ensure Packaging Team performs duties to the expected performance level to meet department goals and corporate expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with providing supervision and delegation daily to a crew of Processing Technicians, communicate work schedules, observe to ensure team completes work accurately, fulfills documentation requirements, and abides by SOPs for work area – ensuring product wellbeing, compliance, and efficiencies.
- Working with the packaging team, perform safe and effective weighing, labelling and packaging of cannabis product.
- Ability to operate assigned machinery and assist with training employees on required departmental machinery.
- Working with the team members, monitor all cannabis products ensuring product is free from risk of contamination; ensure employees are aware and can identify risk.
- Have foresight to recognize potential hazards, packaging problems and contamination risks; report findings and/or concerns to Packaging Team Lead or designate.
- Monitor inventory of packaging supplies, completing purchase requisitions and seeking approvals when levels reach the reorder stage.
- Prepare shipments of cannabis for transport following regulation and approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) assist with all outgoing shipments, domestic and international; and receiving incoming shipments. Medical order fulfillment.
- Ensure a clean working environment, possessing an attitude of high standards of cleanliness.
- Coordinate and communicate with employees managing the electronic inventory software.
- Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance team, follow checks and balances for quality, efficacy, and safety; minimizing contamination and waste of product.
- Remove composite sample during bulk packaging run and send to approved lab for quality control testing.
- Follow and apply appropriate control measures to prevent the combining of cannabis lots and batches.
- Oversee and ensure that packaging material are accurate and matched to specifications (labels, forms)
- Ensure all aspects of the packaged product are compliant to specifications (labels, forms) before leaving the packaging area and placed in vault; immediately notify Quality Assurance of any non-conformance packages.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to any shipment scheduling changes due to customer demands.
- Accurate completion of logistics paperwork.

Qualifications:
- Post secondary Diploma in Agriculture/Horticulture and/or any other related discipline considered an asset.
- Experience in the cultivation of cannabis or other sensitive commercial crops is considered an asset.
- Experience in and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) considered an asset.
- Demonstrate necessary comprehension of mathematics and the English language.
- Shipping dock and pump cart experience preferred, but not necessary.
- International shipping and documentation considered an asset.
