We are hiring for multiple seasonal positions, offering a great opportunity to create memorable guest experiences alongside our passionate team all while enjoying beautiful vineyard views each day.

Overview

Reporting to the Head Gardener, this position will be assisting with the Ravine organic vegetable garden, all planted flowers on the Ravine property and animal care for chickens and two goats. The successful candidate will see the organic vegetable garden and flower garden through all stages from planting to harvest while working closely with the restaurant department to ensure seasonal vegetables are available.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining garden areas and plantings; seeding, planting, weeding, cultivating and trimming.
  • Harvests and cleans vegetables for use in the Ravine kitchen.
  • Keeps records in accordance with the Head Gardener.
  • Works in the greenhouse and microgreen areas.
  • Uses small machinery to care for gardens.
  • Performs soil amending / fertilizing.
  • Care and maintenance of farm animals on property.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Other duties as required.

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in Horticulture or working toward considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a gardening role, growing organic vegetables is preferred.
  • Previous experience handling a range of horticultural machinery and powered hand tools preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Communication: This position requires excellent listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Organization: Must be able to easily access and store many types of information on a daily basis.
  • Multitasking: Must be able to take initiative in prioritizing and executing multiple tasks according to company priorities.
  • Adaptability: Able to accept changing conditions and new information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical: Will be required to go long periods without rest, occasionally lift or move objects over 50LBS and use small machinery.

Working conditions

  • Majority of work will be performed outdoors in both hot and cold weather.
  • Works independently as well as part of a team.
  • Will go long periods without rest; most duties require standing or kneeling.
  • A typical work week will be approximately 35 hours per week.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Overtime as required.
