We are looking for a Land Plans Examiner to help grow our business and contribute to our future.

The Land Plans Examiner will examine and analyze plans of survey and supporting documents that impact and/or affect the use of public and private lands and advise on compliance and/or non-compliance with Provincial Legislation, Acts and Regulations and Land Registry. Reporting to Operations Manager, Surveys & GIS, other highlights include:

  • Examine and analyze plans of survey to ensure mathematical accuracy using co-ordinate geometry, and trigonometric calculations using recognized survey software (i.e. Traverse PC), along with manual verification methods.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to ISC clients regarding plan preparation and submission, preparing change orders interpretation of plans, and navigation of relevant resources on the ISC website, etc.

What you’ll need:

  • A two-year technical survey course, or a minimum of five years of directly related experience in checking and/or preparation of land survey plans. An equivalent combination of education and experience related to technical survey work or experience in the field as a technologist involved in legal surveys may also be considered.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Land Surveys Systems, regulations, procedures and practices.
  • In depth knowledge of legal survey procedures for the re-establishment/establishment of legal survey boundaries/ monuments.
  • Strong knowledge of requirements for preparing and drafting survey and descriptive plans, including support documents for online plans.
  • Ability to interpret land titles, surveyor’s field notes and related legal survey documentation.
  • Advanced understanding of trigonometry and co-ordinate geometry and their application.
  • Working knowledge of the Land Surveys Act/Regulations, Land Titles Act/Regulations, and other legislation relevant to Land Surveying
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as ESRI ArcPro, Spicer, Traverse PC and MS Office
  • AutoCAD experience is considered an asset.
