POSITION:
ENGINEERING ASSISTANT I
(subject to incumbent returning – approximately 18-month term)
HOURS OF WORK:
7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday
HOURLY RATE:
$37.98/hr as per Collective Agreement
START DATE:
As soon as possible

Located in the heart of the Kootenay Rockies, Kimberley is a vibrant mountain community known for its stunning natural surroundings, outdoor recreation opportunities, and welcoming atmosphere. Residents enjoy access to 260 km of recreation trails for hiking, skiing, and biking, a ski hill within the City, and a lively arts and culture scene, making Kimberley an ideal place to live and work.
FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE
This position offers a flexible schedule, including the opportunity to participate in an earned days off (EDO) program. We recognize the importance of work-life balance and strive to accommodate individual needs wherever possible.
DUTIES:
Under the general supervision and direction of the Chief Operator Engineering/EAII, Project Manager and/or the Senior Manager of Operations and with limited supervision, this employee performs general engineering design, drafting and survey work; performs routine inspections and reports on construction progress; collects data, prepares and updates plans, and maintains drafting and engineering files. The Engineering Assistant I is also responsible for keeping all data (including documents, drawings and databases) up to date and organized, providing routine information and plans to the general public, and other related engineering work as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of Civil or Geomatics Engineering Tech diploma and must possess accreditation of Applied Science Technologist (Civil or Survey Engineering) with ASTTBC or City approved equivalent. Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
The successful applicant will be expected to use survey equipment (i.e. RTK GNSS, total station, laser and/or sight level, survey rod, and magnetic locator), general equipment (tape measure, distometer, sledgehammers, shovels, city vehicles, scanner, and large format printer). Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD would be considered an asset.
Qualifications must be outlined with verifications of education/certification attached.
