Position Summary:
The Project Manager provides oversight and support to project engineers and site management through contract management and assisting with cost control, planning, scheduling, QA/QC of our work, coordinating with the client, and recommending process/mining method improvements.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP, Operations, the Project Manager provides technical support for the project. The Project Manager is responsible and accountable for:
- Site Safety Performance as measured by several leading and lagging indicators.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to site engineering, crew schedule planning, capital and operating budget and sub-contractor management.
- Meeting with existing clients to consult on available services.
- Preparing proposals and contractual agreements, working alongside other relevant team members.
- Working with Superintendents to manage company workforce and equipment to maximize utilization and profitability.
- Meeting with stakeholders, defining project scope, performing research and assisting with quotes for required work.
- Preparing reports as required by the client.
- Performing the work in accordance with the rules and requirements of clients and regulatory agencies.
- Monitoring project milestones to ensure projects remain on schedule and budget.
- Rotational work is required at remote work sites – typically on a 14 on / 14 off, or 21 on / 21 off roster.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project Management on mining/construction projects with a strong preference for individuals with underground experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field.
- Registered, or eligible to register as an Engineer in Canada.
- Formal training in project management fundamentals is an asset (i.e. PMP certification).
- Knowledge of general underground mining operations/processes.
- Knowledge of construction involving mines, concrete, structural steel, hoisting devices, pumps, fans etc.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory agency requirements, the ability and technical knowledge to liaise with agencies.
- Proven ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Professional interaction with all levels of employees within the organization from frontline to senior executive.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
- General familiarity with ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in and lead a team environment with varying levels of experience and skills.
- Familiar with estimating, scheduling, subcontract coordination, and material procurement.
- Review change orders and identify any potential risks.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and spoken, high accuracy, results oriented, and comfortable in assessing risk and managing pressure.
