T2627-248 1.0 FTE Temporary Grades K-9 District Careers Support Teacher

We invite applications for the temporary position of:
- 1.0 FTE K-9 District Careers Support Teacher
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in designing and supporting the delivery of the Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) curriculum and implementing career education learning opportunities for K-9 learners throughout the district. This position focuses on fostering community and industry partnerships, enhancing student awareness of career pathways, and coordinating engaging district-wide events, which include Grade 7 Career Exploration days and Skills Canada events.
The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge, experience, and ability in the following:
- Supporting preparation and implementation of the Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) curriculum.
- Liaising with internal and external groups and agencies, including Skills Canada, Construction Foundation of BC, Skilled Trades BC, industry sector and employer groups, and the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
- Promoting career awareness opportunities events with students, parents, and employers.
- Coordinating new certification opportunities for middle school learners.
- Educating school and community partners about transitional linkages between STEP, Sampler Programs, WEX, YTT, and YWT.
- Networking and recruiting employers for district events and classroom presentations.
- Designing, organizing, and leading district events such as Skills Canada, Grade 7 Career Exploration, Find Your Fit, Guess My Job, and Grade 8 & 9 Focus Days.
- Applying for available grants under the direction of the program administrator.
- Maintaining and expanding awareness of dual credit and career-related programs, courses, and events.
- Promoting, developing, and supporting elementary and middle school career education initiatives including MyBlueprint.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Successful middle school teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with small tools and hands-on materials.
- Valid First Aid Certification.
- Strong background in organizing and coordinating community and district events.
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate Required.
Assets:
- Class 4 driver's license
