The Opportunity: The Guardianship worker promotes and ensures the safety and well-being of children throughout their stay in care.
- Develops and completes the written care plan by ensuring the child/youth in care, caregiver, extended family and those in the child’s care planning circle have input into the plan.
- Informs the child’s caregiver of their responsibilities, monitors the placement; and provides assistance and guidance with addressing the child’s difficult behaviours in collaboration with the resource worker.
- Provides support to children in care by assisting the child with admission into CSFS care, placement and permanency related issues; ensures the rights of the child are being met in accordance with legislation and policies; provides consent for child activities; ensures the child’s birthday and other significant events are celebrated, and oversees all payments.
- Works in collaboration with the child, current caregiver, potential guardian, nation, extended family, and the adoption agency when preparing a child for adoption or permanent transfer of custody

What You Will Bring to The Role:
- Diploma OR Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services related field (Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, and Theology)
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a family service or child and youth service environment and/or previous child welfare experience (resources, guardianship or child protection-preferably you will have you child welfare specialization)
- Must possess a C4 or greater delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA), or the ability to attend training to obtain C4 delegation

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $40.52 to $52.49 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.

About Carrier Sekani Family S
In the late 1980's the elders and leaders of the newly formed Carrier Sekani Tribal Council (CSTC) came together and decided that it was time that social and health issues were brought to the forefront. The social well-being of the Carrier and Sekani people needed improvement and it was time to begin on a new path- one that would lead their member nations to a better place and a solid future. The CSTC took their first step on this path by employing eight people to support Carrier and Sekani families to navigate the Child Welfare system. In addition, they saw the need to have a patient advocate for Carrier people at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia.
Based on their vision on August 1990, a non-profit society was established to provide social welfare supports, legal guidance, and research to Indigenous people living in remote and urban areas in Northern BC's central region. The non-profit was named Northern Native Family Services. In later years it was re-named Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS). CSFS signed its first transfer agreement in 1997 to provide community-based health programs. As the service needs in child welfare, social, health and legal programs were on the rise; these areas became the development priorities for the agency. Landmark events began with the incorporation of a small office and a handful of employees, and with the guidance of a board of directors, the society moved forward.
Today, CSFS is a leading organization with more than 280 skilled staff members in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Burns Lake.
CSFS is committed to a strong foundation in Carrier and Sekani values, beliefs and philosophies. As a result, we are progressive and a forerunner in the development and delivery of community based programs.
