About the role

Your Opportunity:

Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is looking for a Pharmacist who is interested in a role with a strong clinical focus and regular involvement in direct patient care. You will work closely with patients, prescribers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to assess medication therapy, resolve drug-related problems, and support safe, practical treatment plans.This role offers a broad mix of acute and chronic care, with opportunities to use your clinical judgment every day. The work includes medication therapy assessment and monitoring, patient education, discharge and transition planning, and collaboration with the care team when medication regimens need to be adjusted. It is a good fit for someone who communicates well, enjoys problem-solving, and is comfortable balancing clinical priorities in a busy hospital environment. You will be joining a pharmacy team that plays an important role in patient care at a regional hospital serving Grande Prairie and surrounding communities. In addition to the AHS rate of pay, this position is currently eligible for a Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 annually and a Northern Pharmacist Wage Supplement of up to $10,000 annually. This temporary position may also be eligible for an additional recruitment incentive through the HSAA Rural Capacity Investment Fund. Eligibility is subject to RCIF approval, and the hiring manager will submit the application on behalf of the successful candidate. Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacist.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Additional Prescribing Authorization is required or must be obtained within one year of hire. Support will be provided to the successful candidate as they work toward meeting this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous hospital or acute care pharmacy experience is an asset but not required. The role is well suited to someone who communicates clearly, works well with a team, and is interested in developing their clinical practice.
