About the role

TRU is seeking one sessional to teach EDTE 3110 - Learning/Curriculum/Assessment from July 6 to 14, M,T,W,R,F 1:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.

Calendar Description

This course emphasizes continuous improvement of teaching and learning through planning and feedback facilitated by the professional development process. Students demonstrate self-awareness of the limits of their current knowledge and the ongoing need to seek out new information. Course topics include identifying ongoing professional development opportunities, developing and implementing course outlines, identifying types of learning, determining appropriate instructional techniques and learning activities, determining and evaluating appropriate assessment and testing methods, and creating an effective learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor of Education is required
  • A Master of Education is required
  • Recent successful experience as a K-12 teacher strongly preferred and three years successful full time classroom experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of the subject area is required
  • Experience and excellent understanding of child development and how this relates to elementary or secondary schools is required
  • Previous successful post-secondary school teaching experience is preferred
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills is required
  • Proven skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect are required
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating Aboriginal knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) is required
  • Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) is required
  • Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA10), is required
