Our client, a growing food processing organization based in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Sanitation Manager to lead sanitation operations within a high-volume production facility. Operating in a fast-paced, perishable food environment, the organization places strong emphasis on food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

This role is critical to maintaining compliance with CFIA, HACCP, and food safety standards , while supporting operational efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the sanitation team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve sanitation programs, procedures, and policies across the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with CFIA, HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
  • Oversee daily sanitation activities for production lines, equipment, and facility areas.
  • Conduct sanitation inspections, audits, and verification activities to ensure standards are consistently met.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance teams to support operational and food safety objectives.
  • Manage sanitation chemicals, equipment, and supplies while ensuring proper usage and inventory control.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to sanitation or food safety issues.
  • Support internal and external food safety audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor sanitation KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sanitation leadership experience within a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, CFIA regulations, and food safety programs.
  • Experience managing sanitation teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with chemical handling, sanitation equipment, and cleaning validation processes.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and support multiple shifts if required.
