About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Operations Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. This pivotal role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network infrastructure issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless environments. The successful candidate will lead technical investigations during service disruptions, perform root cause analysis, and implement strategic improvements to enhance network reliability and performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop automation tools, improve monitoring systems, and contribute to critical network projects such as upgrades, patches, and security enhancements. The Network Operations Specialist will also mentor junior team members, participate in incident management, and support disaster recovery planning to ensure operational resilience. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with a focus on delivering secure, reliable, and efficient network services.
Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Five (5) to seven (7) years of recent experience in a networked systems environment, including significant expertise in Linux system administration, Kubernetes operations, and container orchestration. Proficiency in programming with Python is required, with additional experience in Go or Rust considered an asset.
Skills And Abilities
Strong knowledge of network design, architecture, and security best practices. Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus and Grafana. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues. Proven ability to automate processes and develop operational tooling to improve efficiency. Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external vendors. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple incidents simultaneously under pressure. Understanding of privacy and security regulations relevant to healthcare environments. Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the capacity to convey technical concepts clearly. Experience in coaching and mentoring team members to foster professional growth. Physical ability to perform the duties required by the role.

Experience with Cisco network infrastructure. Knowledge of JavaScript for developing internal tooling. Experience designing operational automation workflows.

Responsibilities
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and platform issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless environments to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance. Perform root cause analysis during major incidents and lead technical troubleshooting efforts, including operational reviews and post-incident discussions to implement corrective measures. Enhance monitoring capabilities by identifying gaps, adding new metrics, validating alerts, and developing dashboards to provide comprehensive visibility into network health. Develop automation scripts and operational tools to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce incident resolution times. Implement integrations between various monitoring systems and operational platforms to enable seamless data flow and proactive issue detection. Mentor Network Operations Specialists by providing technical guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to foster team development. Participate in incident management during high-severity events, coordinating efforts to restore services swiftly and effectively. Monitor network performance and utilization, tuning network parameters and operating systems in accordance with departmental policies and best practices. Document incidents, resolutions, standard operating procedures, automated processes, and disaster recovery plans to ensure knowledge retention and compliance. Develop and communicate plans for scheduled downtime and disaster recovery to minimize impact on hospital operations. Lead and support network-related projects, including upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities, to ensure system security, performance, and stability. Ensure adherence to security policies, privacy regulations, and best practices to safeguard sensitive healthcare data. Create user instruction materials and deliver training sessions as needed to facilitate effective system usage. Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support to address urgent network
