Purpose of your Position - Non Union

As our Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll orchestrate repairs, champion safety, and optimize resources – ensuring every building runs smoothly and sustainably. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance of City of Kelowna facilities. They organize and schedule maintenance and repairs to ensure the sustainable, safe, and efficient use of financial, human, and physical resources. The supervisor provides leadership, technical, and professional expertise related to the department’s strategic plans, objectives, goals, and management of a vast, diverse, and aging facilities portfolio. They are responsible for staff and facility safety, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and policy requirements.

1) Lead facilities maintenance
- Utilize the City’s CMMS (Cityworks) to effectively monitor, schedule & assign work for over 200 assets with a replacement value of $1.4 billion, covering 1.8 million square feet.
- Support, monitor, and review branch strategic goals and objectives, standards, policies, procedures, and plans to ensure alignment with department, division, and city-wide objectives.
- Provide maintenance management for Facilities under other departmental cost centres, including Utility facilities, Real Estate (Property Management and Parking) Facilities, and various commercial and industrial facilities.
- Monitor and adapt internal and external customer service practices to ensure approved service levels.
2) Manage human resources
- Oversee 9+ direct reports, develop, inspire, hire, assess, and discipline employees.
- Coordinate and manage a broad base of contractors (20+), consultants (5+), and suppliers (10+) based on their performance and technical ability, to match required contract service levels.
- Implement and monitor branch health and safety; ensuring staff have the right tools, training, and procedures.
- Facilitate staff recruitment, engagement, retention, and job satisfaction.
3) Manage branch sustainability & facility resilience
- Manage and provide leadership for maintenance programs that ensure the full life cycle of assets.
- Recommend, review, and approve procedures and plans based on risk prioritization, to reduce reactive work and to ensure service continuity for external and internal customers.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory programs, legislation, or best practices.
- Support capital and energy initiatives.

Knowledge - Non Union
Post Secondary diploma in building or architectural technology, or a journeyman trade ticket. Minimum of 5 years of leadership and management experience in the field of facilities management. Requires a working technical knowledge of buildings, building systems, and facility operations and maintenance.
Skills & Abilities - Non Union
Strong leadership, management, and technical skills regarding facility operations and maintenance.
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to navigate CMMS (Cityworks) and general computer literacy and competence. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Demonstrate a civic entrepreneurial spirit by generating new, innovative ideas and development of better methods to accomplish tasks and complete projects.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $94,700 to $110,490, depending on qualifications and experience. Most candidates can expect to start in the lower to mid-range of this scale, with opportunities for salary growth based on performance and tenure. We offer progressive employment practices and a great work environment. This is an exempt position that offers a competitive salary, employer-paid comprehensive benefits package, an earned day off program, paid vacation and one of Canada’s top pension plans.
