Project Manager, Engineering Performance

As Project Manager, Engineering Performance, you’ll be at the heart of our Engineering Department’s success. You’ll lead the charge in managing programmatic interfaces and work management systems, ensuring our engineering projects run smoothly, efficiently, and with precision.
You’ll support key processes like Earned Value Management, Vendor Oversight, Risk Mitigation, Contract Compliance, Deliverable Tracking, and Quality & Change Management. You’ll also be the go-to expert for engineering metrics, process improvement, and performance tracking.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across teams, solving complex challenges, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced, industrial setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage planned and emergent engineering work within your scope
- Own core project management functions: cost analysis, schedule control, vendor coordination, and change management
- Interpret Statements of Work and contract requirements to ensure scope delivery
- Support internal and external stakeholders with procurement, change processes, and work management tools
- Review and originate technical deliverables and documentation
- Collaborate with Quality Management to author repeatable processes and procedures
- Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and make informed technical decisions
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the department
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in an Engineering discipline
- PMP certification is a strong asset
- 5+ years of experience in engineering or project management, ideally within large-scale projects or portfolios
- Background in heavy industrial, manufacturing, or fabrication environments
- P.Eng designation is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
