Program Assistant, Learning Academy

Full- Time, Contract

Location: Toronto, ON (hybrid)

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Program Assistant, Learning Academy! Reporting to the Program Lead, Learning Academy, this position provides virtual administrative and facilitation support to the Program Coordinator- Learning Academy for the Primary Explorers, Junior Explorers, and Young Achievers summer programs. In addition, they will support the Program Lead in the delivery of the SCORE Scholars program both virtually and in-person. Learning Academy programs focus on best practices for important education transitions and pre-vocational training for children and youth who experience vision loss.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of all Learning Academy Programming (SCORE Scholars, Primary Explorers, Junior Explorers, Young Achievers).

  • Assist in the coordination of applications and the conducting of interviews with prospective program participants.

  • Ability to live on campus as part of the SCORE Scholars program

  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of Canada Summer Jobs candidates for summer.

  • Research and arrange activities with third party organizations, recreational groups, and guest speakers.

  • Assist in the recruitment of volunteers for the SCORE Scholars Program and coordinate a volunteer orientation session as well as required materials.

  • Provide ongoing support to Learning Academy participants in a mentoring role.

  • Manage Zoom meetings including opening sessions, coordination of participants and monitoring of break out rooms as required.

  • Demonstrate assistive technology, including Voiceover and various apps for iPhone and iPad.

  • Assist with file management, documentation, and financial tracking in Concur, Centeresuite, and Salesforce.

 Who you are**

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience effectively facilitating program content to online groups.

  • Exceptional social media and computer skills, including high level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Zoom.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.

  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing sight loss.

  • Personal experience with technical aids and devices for people with vision loss.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Must be able to travel independently during in-person programming via public transit or car (taxi, Uber etc.)

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience with and knowledge of the CNIB SCORE Scholars program.

  • Final year high-school, university or community college student preferred.

  • Current or prospective related fields of study may include social services, health studies, child and youth studies, disability studies, administration, communications, technology, customer service, public relations or marketing.

  • Lived experience with vision loss an asset.

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.

  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment

  • Eligible to live with the SCORE Scholar camp.

  • All other contract days will be fulfilled virtually.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours.

  • Be able to work from a remote location expertly utilizing Zoom, Teams, Outlook, One Drive, Sales force, Concur and Microsoft Office 360.
