WAGE RATE: $39.07 – $56.00
Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room assesses perioperative patient needs, performs activities that demonstrate nursing accountability; safely and adequately provides and utilizes equipment and supplies based on need and evaluates patient outcomes.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required:
- Ontario registration or eligibility
- Successful completion of the Operating Room certificate and/or at least two years OR experience in the last three years
- Ability to scrub and circulate in all services
- Knowledge of the current ORNAC standards
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
- Ability to function as a team member
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to flex time to meet unit’s needs
- Proven verbal and written, including electronic, communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision making and organizational skills
- Ability to respond to urgent/emergency situations
- Must be willing to take call and be available to reach the hospital within 20 minutes
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
- Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred
- Perioperative Nursing Certification
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing
