Position Overview
We are seeking a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Cranbrook Service team. This role is ideal for an apprentice who has built a strong foundation in the trade and is ready to take on increased responsibility while continuing to progress toward Journeyman certification.
You will work alongside experienced Journeypersons and Shop Foremen in a professional, well-organized service environment that values safety, accountability, and continuous development.

We offer competitive hourly wages based on apprenticeship level and experience, with clear opportunities for progression.
Hourly Rate: $37.96 – $42.71
Wages are set based on apprenticeship year, with additional increases available through completion of online training, certifications, and skill development.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy duty trucks and equipment under the guidance of Journeypersons and Foremen
- Assist with and perform diagnostics on engines, drivetrains, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems
- Follow repair procedures, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications
- Coordinate with Parts to ensure required components are available
- Accurately document work completed and track time
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Participate in training and skill development opportunities
Qualifications
- Registered 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician
- Previous experience in a heavy-duty service environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
- Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment
This position operates within a heavy-duty mechanical service shop and requires adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and established shop procedures.
