About the role
Fairstone Bank is seeking a forward-thinking and results-driven Senior Manager, Quality Engineering to lead the evolution of our Quality Assurance practice. This role leads a team of quality professionals responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of the organization’s software solutions. This role drives the quality strategy, test automation frameworks, and continuous improvement of our quality engineering approach. The successful candidate combines strong leadership with technical depth in modern testing, foster a culture of excellence, ensure alignment with organizational goals, and provide strategic direction to enhance testing capabilities across all technical initiatives.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, coach and grow a team of QA professionals including automation, performance, and manual testers.
- Build a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement across the teams.
- Allocate resources effectively across projects, balancing manual and automated testing needs.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across QA disciplines.
Practice Development & Strategy
- Define and implement QA strategies, frameworks, and standards aligned with industry best practices.
- Promote a culture of quality across engineering teams and ensure QA involvement early in the development lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain quality gates, approval processes, and testing standards across projects.
- Support Agile methodology practices, with a goal of expanding Agile adoption across the organization.
Technical Oversight
- Assess, recommend, and implement best-in-class tools and technologies to support automation and performance testing.
- Provide direction on the use of current tools including MABL, Selenium, and Playwright, and evaluate new solutions as needed.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of automation frameworks and CI/CD integration.
- Ensure performance testing is conducted effectively using tools like LoadRunner Cloud.
- Maintain manual testing capabilities for areas where automation is not feasible.
- Support hands-on scripting, test execution, preparation of mock data, and troubleshooting when required.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track key QA metrics including efficiency, escape defects, test coverage, and resource utilization.
- Deliver regular reports to leadership on QA performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure alignment with Fairstone’s delivery operating model.

Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in building and scaling QA teams and practices.
- Strong knowledge of automation tools and frameworks (e.g., MABL, Selenium, Playwright, JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner Cloud).
- Solid understanding of manual testing methodologies and their strategic application.
- Familiarity with Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with a focus on metrics and continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, and web-based application testing.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
