The firm prides itself on a collegial work atmosphere and supportive team environment.We hire self-motivated, team-minded individuals with a strong work ethic, integrity and a commitment to client service.We are seeking a permanent, full-time Litigation Paralegal to join our Halifax office to provide paralegal services to the Litigation Practice Groups.SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESDraft pleadings,Utilize Litigation Support Software to manage document production, disclosure and organization, including the following tasks:data entry to objectively code documentspreparation of Affidavits Disclosing Documents (including review and redact for privilege and relevance);compile Books of Evidence/Exhibits;document production;import documents received from opposing counsel;prepare legal chronologies;Record all billable and non-billable functions on a daily basis;Utilize computer technology in an efficient and productive manner;General office and clerical duties, including billable and non-billable functions;Other duties as required.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 5 years' experience as a litigation paralegal/legal assistant, with preference given to those who have completed a recognized paralegal program or equivalent;Previous experience using litigation support software (ie: Discovery Local or CasePoint) is an asset;Excellent technical skills and exceptional attention to detail;Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding skills;Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines;Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Civil Procedure Rules is an asset;Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.Cox & Palmer provides a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:A generous paid vacation allowance;Three flex days per year;Paid sick days;Firm paid Health, Dental, and Life Insurance plans;Group Pension Plan with employer matching contributions;Employee and Family Assistance Program;An annual Health and Fitness Allowance.Equity, Diversity & InclusionWe understand the value that an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace brings to our people, our clients, and the communities we serve.We welcome and encourage applications from persons who identify as women, visible minorities, Indigenous, persons with disabilities, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community/people with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.Applicants from these equity-priority groups may self-identify in their application.In the course of the hiring process, candidates are entitled to seek necessary accommodations.
