The Systems Analyst - Cybersecurity plays a key role in protecting and strengthening the City's technology environment. As part of the Information Technology team, you'll support the implementation, administration, and security of enterprise systems that keep municipal operations running safely and reliably.

How you'll own it
- Support the City's cybersecurity posture by assisting with the secure operation and protection of enterprise systems
- Help maintain system integrity through patching, monitoring, and routine preventative maintenance activities
- Assist in delivering reliable and secure technology services that support day-to-day municipal operations
- Contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement in systems, processes, and security practices
- Support security monitoring and incident response activities, including investigating alerts and escalating where appropriate

In this entry-level cybersecurity role, you'll support the day-to-day operations of the City's cybersecurity program. You'll assist with monitoring systems, investigating alerts, and maintaining secure environments while working alongside experienced IT professionals and building strong relationships across departments.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is curious, motivated, and eager to learn. You'll gain hands-on experience with enterprise systems while developing your skills in a structured and supportive team environment.
What you bring
- Foundational knowledge of:
- Core infrastructure concepts (networking, servers, virtualization, cloud, and data protection)
- Microsoft Active Directory and authentication services
- Enterprise environments
- Demonstrated understanding of:
- Cybersecurity practices such as patching, system hardening, monitoring, and basic incident response
- Cybersecurity tools, monitoring platforms, or vulnerability management (considered an asset)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and work through ambiguous or incomplete information
- Ability to follow documented processes with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Curiosity and a desire to understand how systems work and how they can be compromised or secured
- An interest in identifying risks and understanding how systems can be protected against potential threats
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork, knowledge sharing, and supporting colleagues
- Strong organizational and self-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands
- A proactive approach to learning, with a willingness to ask questions, seek feedback, and continuously improve
- Interest in cybersecurity demonstrated through coursework, labs, or personal projects
- Familiarity with Environmental and Occupational HealthSafety regulations
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma from a recognized post-secondary or technical institution in computer technology or related field.
- One (1) year of experience in a Systems Analyst or similar role.
- An equivalent combination of management approved training, and education may be considered.
