About the role

Job Summary

Continuing Education instructors are experienced, practicing professionals in their subject areas. They teach previously developed and/or assist in the development of course materials to meet learning outcomes, and they incorporate their expertise, real-life examples, and effective teaching strategies into the course and materials. CE instructors document their students’ attendance, participation, and progress; grade assignments and assessments; and create a student-centred learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation. They are experienced with supporting computer-based, synchronous and asynchronous courses, using various technologies and learning management systems.

The Continuing Education department invites applicants to apply to join a pool of instructors qualified to teach in the following programs:

Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate program

  • Medical Laboratory Assistant – Introduction to Electrocardiography (Applicant must be available and willing to teach through the summer.)

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Registered Cardiology Technology Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Member of Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC), preferably with advanced registration.
  • Member of BC Association of Cardiology Technologists.
  • Five years recent experience as a cardiology technologist.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook and Teams.
  • Advanced digital technology skills.
  • Commitment to supporting Indigenization and decolonization in post-secondary education, with a willingness to reflect these values in teaching practice.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Instructor training and certification (e.g., Provincial Instructor Diploma, Train the Trainer certification, recognized teaching credential, or other educational programs for teaching adults).

  • Experience teaching or mentoring adult learners in a clinical setting preferred.

  • Experience with online instruction using Learning Management System (LMS) platforms such as Moodle or Blackboard.
