LIBRARY TECHNICIAN
St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School
35 hours per week
The Board is currently seeking a Library Technician to join our dynamic team at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School. The Library Technician supports staff and students by ensuring the library’s varied resources are well organized and accessible. The Library Technician encourages the full use of the library and available materials, including technology, and assist staff and students in a welcoming and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- 2-year diploma in Library and Information Technician diploma or related program from a community college
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Proficiency in computer applications and in the use of technology for research and the development of literacy skills
- Knowledge of cyber security and appropriate use of technology
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum of three months of recent related experience
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to provide regular attendance

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Strong organizational skills and time management skills
-
Good problem-solving skills
-
Excellent research skills
-
Good knowledge of books and other reading materials, particularly for adolescents and young adults

Ability to work collaboratively with others

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Self-starter
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Understanding of computerized cataloguing systems

One year of recent related experience is preferred
