Position: Education Program Supervisor (Full Time – 12 Month Contract)
Facility: Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada Reports to: Manager of Education and Conservation
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Manager of Education and Conservation, the Education Program Supervisor will be an integral part of the Education and Conservation team. The Education Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the Education team as it relates to day-to-day operations and providing support and direction on our educational programs at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada.
The Education Program Supervisor will oversee the training of Educators, and the delivery of the Education programs (including classroom workshops, dive shows, sleepovers, experiences, etc.). They will promote and encourage positive attitudes towards aquatic life and the environment in all interactions. The Education Program Supervisor will assist the Manager of Education and Conservation with supervision of camp staff, as well as assist the Camp Coordinator with the development of the camp programs. Please remember your duties and responsibilities may change from time to time; you will also be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year! You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.
Critical Accountabilities:
- Supervise Education staff, including monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching. Other duties include onboarding, scheduling, performance evaluation, etc.
- Oversee delivery of education programs.
- Coordinate school group check in.
- Accurate and responsible usage of Point of Sales terminals as per RAC policy
- Coordinate experience programs (Stingray Experience, Sleepovers, and other programs as developed).
- Coordinate the updating of digital signage.
- Contribute to new/updated teacher resources, teacher newsletter and coordinate teacher events
- Assist with planning and coordinating special events and programs at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada.
- Keep up to date regarding industry trends as it relates to marine life education and conservation programs and initiatives to bring new and relevant information to the Education and Conservation team.
- Represent Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada as required at community forums, special events and industry functions.
Special Skills and Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in biology, environmental science, education, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in meeting and exceeding customer needs and expectations in the attractions industry.
- Proven ability to offer presentations before audiences varying in size and composition.
- Proficiency with computer software programs and experience with Siriusware is an asset.
- Must be able to lift at least up to 30 lbs.
Pay Rate: $45,000-$47,000/annually
